The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon's Court

The Second Empress: A Novel of Napoleon's Court - Michelle Moran Not quite the sweeping sagas of Moran's other novels, but only because the scope was a little narrower. The main characters centered mostly around the French court and a few from the Austrian -- circling around the relationship between Napolean and his second wife. Napoleon's rule, and subsequent downfall, was infused with his lust for power and conquest. As much as Marie-Louise, the second empress (after Josephine) was subjugated by Napoleon's maniacal ego, so too her 'voice' in this book is much subdued compared to that of the Little General.
