Letters to the Lost

Letters to the Lost - Iona Grey In this love story, letters link the past (WWII) and the present (2011). The reader gets taken back to the past, told through the reading of old letters found at an old house. It evokes a sense of nostalgia and sentimentality of an era gone by, and some sadness too, as the lovers are separated after the war -- she being British, and he was an American pilot. It falls to a homeless young lady, who is squatting at the now dilapidated old house, to find the intended recipient of a recent letter -- the last one sent, from the U.S., from the old soldier to his beloved, whom he hopes to see one more time before he passes. A beautifully tender 5-star read of a love that never dies.
